Russian Language Courses

The Pushkin State Russian Language Institute provides a wide range of educational services in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

Online programs are provided in a form of group classes.

Individual tuition may be provided on a one-to-one basis.


Training takes place in a remote format using the ZOOM platform and the web-portal "PushkinOnline".

The schedule of the individual classes for adults is set by agreement. The tuition fee for the individual classes is 1,450 rubles per 1 academic hour (= 45 minutes) from September 1, 2020.

Taking an intensive program students acquire Russian language skills in short time. Remedial courses in grammar, vocabulary development and style are also available.

Advanced students can also choose the lectures or workshops on:

  • diverse topics of the Russian language,
  • literature,
  • culture and civilization,
  • Business Russian (communication and correspondence).

  • The Pushkin State Russian Language Institute announces the following educational programs to be conducted in full-time mode in 2020/2021 academic year:

    1. Practical Course of Russian as a Foreign Language

    An intensive course of speech practice for students who want to improve their level of Russian language proficiency in various types of speech activities (speaking, reading, listening, writing).

    Target audience: foreign students learning Russian (level А0 to В2+).

    Tuition mode: full-time.

    Training period:1 to 10 months.

    Complexity of training: 96 academic hours per month (24 academic hours a week). 1 academic hour = 45 minutes.

    Starting dates:

    • 01-Sep-2020 (all levels);
    • 28-Sep-2020 (level А1 and higher);
    • 02-Nov-2020 (level A1 and higher);
    • 01-Feb-2021 (all levels);
    • 01-Mar-2021 (level A1 and higher);
    • 29-Mar-2021 (level A1 and higher).

    Tuition fee: 25,000 rubles per month.

    Classes are held 4 days a week from 9 AM till 2:30 PM with lunch break.

    2. Practical Course of Russian as a Foreign Language for School Students

    The course is aimed at developing the linguistic, communicative, and cultural competencies of foreign school students studying the Russian language.

    Target audience: students of foreign schools and lyceums with Russian language proficiency at the level from A1 to B1.

    Tuition mode: full-time.

    Training period: 2 to 3 weeks.

    Complexity of training: 20 to 24 academic hours per week. 1 academic hour = 45 minutes.

    Starting dates:01-Sep-2020 and further during the academic year.

    Attention! Programs are organized only for organized groups of 8 people and more.

    Tuition fee: calculated upon receiving the application and depends on the number of students in the group and the complexity of training.

    3. Preparation for the Certification Exam "Russian Language: Everyday Communication" (Levels B1; B2)

    The course is addressed to students who want to prepare for the certification exam in everyday communication in Russian, improve their knowledge in the field of vocabulary and grammar, improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

    Target audience: foreign students with Russian language proficiency at the level B1 and higher.

    Tuition mode: full-time.

    Training period: 1 month.

    Complexity of training: 96 academic hours per month (24 academic hours per week). 1 academic hour = 45 minutes.

    Starting dates: 02-Nov-2020; 29-Mar-2021.

    Tuition fee: 25,000 rubles.

    Classes are held 4 days a week from 9 AM till 2:30 PM with lunch break.

    4. NEW! Getting Acquainted with the Russian Language and Moscow

    Educational tourism program that combines practical classes in the Russian language and sightseeing lessons.

    Target audience: foreign students with Russian language proficiency at the level A1 and higher.

    Tuition mode: full-time.

    Training period: 1 to 2 weeks.

    Complexity of training: 24 academic hours per week: 12 academic hours – practical classes in Russian; 12 academic hours – excursion lessons. 1 academic hour = 45 minutes.

    Starting dates:01-Sep-2020 and further during the academic year.

    Attention! Programs are organized only for organized groups of 8 people and more.

    Tuition fee: calculated upon receiving the application and depends on the number of students in the group and the complexity of training.

    5. Evening courses of Russian as a foreign language

    A course of speech practice for students who want to improve their level of Russian language proficiency in various types of speech activity (speaking, reading, listening, writing).

    Target audience: foreign students learning Russian (level А0 to В2+).

    Tuition mode: part-time.

    Training period: 1 to 8 months.

    Complexity of training: 36 academic hours per month (9 academic hours per week: 6 academic hours – contact classes with the teacher, 3 academic hours – student's independent work). 1 academic hour = 45 minutes.

    Starting dates:

    • 28-Sep-2020 (all levels);
    • 02-Nov-2020 (level А1 and higher);
    • 01-Feb-2021 (all levels);
    • 01-Mar-2021 (level А1 and higher).

    Arrival: 1-2 days before the starting date.

    Individual tuition is provided on a one-to-one basis.

    Group classes are conducted from 9.00 AM.

    Individual classes may be scheduled by mutual agreement.

    Taking an intensive program students acquire Russian language skills in short time. Remedial courses in grammar, vocabulary development and style are also available.

    Advanced students can also choose lectures or workshops in

    • diverse topics of the Russian language,
    • literature,
    • culture and civilization,
    • or take a course in Business Russian (communication and correspondence).

    Students are provided with course materials and have full access to all Pushkin State Russian Language Institute facilities and resources including:

    • language labs,
    • video and computer-equipped classes,
    • library,
    • audio, video and software developed at the Institute.

    Сertificates of Attendance are issued upon completion.

    TO ENROLL FOR A COURSE AT THE INSTITUTE YOU SHOULD:

    • Send to the Institute your completed application form and a photocopy of your passport.

      Please note that the application deadline is 2 months prior to the starting date of the course chosen by you.

      The Institute will contact you by email within 10 days of getting your application form. If you didn't receive any answer from the Institute within 10 days, please send an email with your first and last name, country and the date of filling out the application to GNKuptsova@pushkin.institute.

      VISA SUPPORT

      The Institute provides visa support for students in the programs 1-4. The Institute does not provide visa support to the students of the Evening Courses (program 5).

      The invitation for a visa is issued by the Institute within 20 days (5 days for countries of Shengen area).

      Important: Your passport should be valid for at least 1.5 years (for countries of Shengen area – 6 months) beyond the proposed date of coming to the Russian Federation;

    • Upon receiving confirmation from the Institute, you must apply for a visa at the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy in your country;
    • bring with you 3 photographs 3 x 4 cm.

    Accommodation is only provided for holders of Institute-sponsored entry visas enrolled for the Institute's educational programmes and only if there are vacant places in the dormitory. Please, book a place in the dormitory in advance and request the number of free places in the dormitory before you apply. Accommodation fee is not included into the tuition fee.
